This guy is just as scary as he is
talented. As long as he doesn't do the things he
raps about the world will be a safer place. That
being said, he's exactly the kind of talent that hip
hop needs to return it from what it has become
today. Keep your kids away from this stuff until
their old enough to handle it... which is probably
around age 45. |

Adele |

 |
|
The only reason why this won't make
some music critics Top 10 List is because it will be
on most people Top 3 lists. You can't deny that
Adele has crossed over to the Pop world this year
but that doesn't take away from the fact that she
made a great sophomore release. A must have for any
mom struggling to connect with her growing daughter. |

Scars On 45 |
Give Me Something EP |
 |
|
Had this been a full length it
probably would have been in the top 5. Scars
exploded on to the scene and they haven't slowed
down. Too early in their career to predict where
they're headed but everyone keeps comparing them to
Fleetwood Mac and I'm not going to argue with that! |

The Black Keys |
El Camino |

Late on the scene this year but
still a strong record from this duo. 2011 is
definetely their break out year and its just in time
too... as we lost another great duo in the White
Stripes |

R.E.M |
Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part
Garbage: 1982-2011 |
![Tom Waits - Glitter and Doom (Live) [Bonus Track Version]](http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/images/badgeitunes61x15dark.gif) |
|
Speaking of Losses, the biggest one
of the year was R.E.M. But they didn't go with out
leaving us a career retrospective that any musician
would be proud of. And they even threw in some new
tracks as a fantastic final bow! |

Amy Winehouse |
Lioness: Hidden Treasures |
 |
|
Would this release have made the
list if she didn't pass away? I'm just not sure, but
the fact of the matter is we lost a real talent and
it shines through on this record. Alternate takes,
unfinished songs and some new classics all blend
together for a great listen... |

Brett Dennen |
Loverboy |
 |
|
When you hear singer song writer its
typical followed by the words acoustic guitar and
deep meaning-feelings filled lyrics. This is not the
case with Loverboy as Brett achieves a fun filled
album. There's some slow tracks on the record, but
you can easily throw this disc in and clean the
house... plus have some left over to clean the
neibors place! |

Tedeschi Trucks Band |
Revelator |

Soul is redefined in this album
which Derek told me was just an experiment. But when
you put the 16th Greatest guitarist of all time(as
voted by fellow musicians in Rolling Stone Magazine)
with one of the best Soul Singers magic happens.
Come See About Me is the best track on the record
and the first, but the rest of the albums doesn't
let down. |

Trombone Shorty |
For True |
 |
|
For the second year in a row
Trombone Shorty lands in the 2nd spot on my list.
And again his album falls second to his live show,
but owning the album is essential homework before
seeing one of his shows. However one thing the
record has that his shows don't is a laundry list of
incredibly guests. Any album that has Jeff Beck, Kid
Rock, Warren Haynes, the Nevilles, Lenny Kravitz and
the Rebirth Brass Band can't be bad! |

Paul Simon |
So Beautiful Or So What |
 |
|
Honestly... If you asked me in July
if this record would have made my list I would have
told you no... and now its number 1. The record has
that kind of staying power. About 45 years since
Sounds of Silence and Paul is still making relevent
amazing music. Melody, lyrics, his soothing voice, I
can't pinpoint what it is exactly but this album
gets a lot of spins on my ipod. We always praise our
great musicians after they go... so its nice to
still have Paul around kicking ass and getting the
recognition for it! We all have a friend that
listens to nothing but classic rock radio or their
old albums and thinks there's no such thing as good
new music... do them a favor and give them this
record. |

Metallica & Lou Reed |
Lulu |
 |
|
I'm not sure if Lou ruined
Metallica's career or vice versa. Either way this
record stinks. Even as a no intention on having any
radio singles passion project this record still
fails, but... makes a great coaster. Just make sure
the album is face down cause the cover stinks to
look at |

I've been a fan for years... M2D has
always had the ability to play a great live show or
write a great song, but this time with great
production behind the album they've made their songs
feel like they're being played live... If you have
the chance to see them live, don't pass it up... and
while you're their request “Play the Fool,” Its the
best! |

This guy can't continue to fly under
the radar... not when he's making albums as great as
this. The retro sound that Amy Winehouse, Sharon
Jones and the Dap Kings have been bringing back
continues with Raphael. |
